Michael Caines MBE, the chef/patron of Lympstone Manor, is one of Britain’s most popular and well-known chefs. The holder of two Michelin stars for 18 consecutive years, he is now delighted to have been awarded a Michelin star for Lympstone Manor just six months after opening. Over the past 22 years, Michael has gained a global reputation for his distinctive modern European cuisine utilising the finest local and regional produce and ingredients.
Michael has appeared regularly on television, on programmes such as BBC 1 Saturday Kitchen, Master chef, Sunday Brunch, The Great British Menu, My Kitchen Rules, and The Great British Bake-off Extra Slice. And amongst numerous accolades, cooked in 10 Downing Street for the Prime Minister, received an MBE in 2006 for services to the hospitality industry, and was awarded AA Chef’s Chef of the Year in 2007.
PROJECTS AND PARTNERS
Michael has long since championed the South West as one of the finest larders in Europe and as his home. He has been the inspiration and driving force behind the Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink since it began in 2003 and Michael Caines academy at Exeter College.
Not only does Michael spend much of his time and energy in the South West he has also partnered with the Williams F1 Team since 2011, bringing his Michelin-starred food and hospitality to the team’s motorhome facility over race weekends, across the globe.
SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY
In 2016, Michael was granted Freeman of the City of Exeter in recognition of his services to the city of Exeter and the wider community. To encourage the next generation of young people in the hospitality industry, he created the Michael Caines Academy at Exeter College. He is the driving force behind the EXETER FESTIVAL OF SOUTH WEST FOOD AND DRINK, a festival of national and international interest that celebrates the quality and variety of food and drink in southwest England. The Michael Caines Foundation, meanwhile, supports a number of charities including FAMILIES FOR CHILDREN, FARMS FOR CITY CHILDREN, the EXETER FOUNDATION, ONE FOR THE BOYS, and DEVON WILDLIFE TRUST.FIND OUT MORE
