It is our great pleasure to introduce An Evening with Rick Stein who will be in-conversation with our guest host for the evening, Matt Tebbutt.

In the after-dinner conversation multi-award-winning chef, restaurateur, writer and presenter Rick Stein will share tales from his extensive career with guest host Matt Tebbutt, and both will chat about their passion for food, cooking and great British produce.

Michael and his team have developed a fabulous seafood-inspired Gala dinner menu using the best local produce to perfectly complement the exceptional flight of wines to accompany the menu.

From humble beginnings to the pinnacle of culinary success, Rick’s story is one of perseverance and passion. Discover how this self-taught chef, with no prior experience, went on to establish a thriving restaurant business that’s become a national institution.

Rick Stein is a British chef, restaurateur, cookery book author and television presenter. He has written over 25 cookery books, a memoir and made over 30 programmes including 12 cookery series. In 2018 Rick was awarded a CBE for Services to the Economy. Rick divides his time between his businesses and homes with his wife, Sarah, between Padstow, London and Australia.

New for 2024, a 15 part series, Rick Stein’s Food Stories aired on BBC Two and a book of the same name will be published in September. Rick was honoured at the 2024 Fortnum and Mason Food and Drink awards – receiving the Fortnum’s Special Award for the impact his life’s work has had on food and the hospitality industry in this country and beyond.

Chef and TV presenter Matt Tebbutt will be our guest host for the evening, leading the in-conversation with Rick to explore Rick’s fascinating and inspiring story.

Matt presents the ever-popular BBC1 food and chat show, ‘Saturday Kitchen’. He is also the presenter of its favourite moments partner – ‘Best Bites’ on BBC2 every Sunday and co-hosts ‘Food Unwrapped’ on Channel 4. 

Matt is a passionate exponent of Modern British cooking, using only the freshest, seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients. As well as Marco Pierre-White, he trained under such greats as Alastair Little, Bruce Poole and Sally Clarke.  For fourteen years, Matt and his wife Lisa ran The Foxhunter restaurant in Monmouthshire (Restaurant of the Year for Wales 2004) where the daily-changing menu featured an exciting range of wild and foraged foods. His most recent project is a small cookery school and filming kitchen in Wales. He has written four cookbooks, ‘Matt Tebbutt Cooks Country’ , ‘Guilty Pleasures’ and his current offering ‘Weekend’. ‘Matt Tebbutt’s Pub Food’ was published in August 2024.

The evening will commence at 6.30pm with canapés and an arrival drink, taking seats at 7.00pm in the Berry Head restaurant for an evening of delicious food and wine, with entertaining after-dinner conversation. Carriages at midnight.

This special evening with Rick Stein and our guest host Matt Tebbutt is available as an Overnight Stay and Gala Dinner package only. The Gala dinner includes Champagne apéritifs, six course tasting menu and matching wine flight. Prices start from £1,346 per room (based on double occupancy).
