Michael Caines announced as a Great British Menu Guest Judge 2025 for special anniversary series

Hit cooking series Great British Menu is returning to our screens this month and starring none other than our very own Michael Caines.

Michael is thrilled to be joining the prestigious panel of Great British Menu guest judges 2025 for the popular show’s 20th series.

Fans of the professional cookery show, which sees top chefs battle it out to have their dish served at a VIP banquet, will know Micheal represented the South West on the show in 2006, winning his heat. Over the years, Micheal reappeared as a contestant, and as a mentor and chef judge.

The show pits chefs from eight regions against each other, with three competing chefs from each location: Scotland, the South West, the North West, Wales, Central, the London South/East area, the North East, and Northern Ireland.

This year, the Great British Menu theme is ‘Great Britons’ with chefs drawing inspiration from important people from throughout history, who came from their region. Each episode will also feature a guest judge, with strong connections to the region being judged, who will help decide which chef wins their regional heat. Michael is one of the Great British Menu guest judges 2025 for the South West heat.

Hosts Andi Oliver, Tom Kerridge, and Ed Gamble will also be returning to the judging chamber.  They will be joined by brand-new judge and former Great British Menu Champion of Champions, Lorna McNee. Lorna, the holder of a Michelin star at her Glasgow restaurant Cail Bruich, is taking over from Nisha Katona.

As one of the Great British Menu guest judges 2025, Michael will have to critique the competing chefs’ dishes, helping the hosts and judges to decide who should go through to the national round of the competition.

Last year’s Great British Menu contestants created dishes around the Olympics and Paralympics to cook at a final banquet to wish the Team GB athletes good luck for the Paris Olympics.

This year’s line-up of competing chefs is yet to be announced, but the popular BBC2 series will begin on Tuesday January 28th and will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer. Three one-hour episodes will air each week for the first eight weeks, followed by five episodes in finals week.
