For the first time we have decided to celebrate Chinese New Year with a selection of themed dishes and wines which will be served in our Pool House Restaurant. New year Celebrations in China can last up to 16 days and it is one of the most important events in their annual calendar.
The history of Chinese wine production in all its forms dates back over 4,000 years and in fact today China is the largest grape producer in the world which contributes to over half the worlds production and it also has the third largest vineyard area globally with 11 different recognised regions.
The wines for the dinner celebrations hail from the Helan Mountain appellation in the region of Ningxia which is located in Central North China about 1,000 kilometers west of Bejing. This region is renowned for making some seriously good wines and these particular examples come from the boutique Fei Tswei and Kanaan Wineries who specialise in growing international varietals and are considered to be amongst the top producers.
Feitswei is a type of emerald jade, and the emerald is a precious stone that represents the essence of spirituality in the mountains ands rivers of China and jade too has a long history in Chinese culture. Kanaan translates to “the land of milk and honey” signifying Ningxia as one of China’s leading wine producing regions.
The evening will commence at 7.00pm with canapés and some fizz, taking seats at 7.30pm in the in the Pool House dining area for a fun evening of Chinese food and wine.
We look forward to welcoming you to Lympstone Manor.
