The July 2023 Celebration of Speed at Lympstone Manor was a roaring success with record numbers coming to enjoy the extravaganza!
1,400 visitors came to the event which transformed the hotel’s vast grounds. Doors were open from noon to midnight for guests to enjoy the exclusive collection of supercars, powerboats, and motorbikes, including Lamborghini, McLaren, Ferrari, and Porsche.
Visitors enjoyed the chance to watch former Formula One World Champion and Sky News pundit, Damon Hill, and motoring expert Rob Smedley during a series of fascinating talks throughout the day. They joined other experts on the stage with Michael Caines to share anecdotes and behind-the-scenes insights into working in one of the biggest and most popular motor racing competitions in the world.
The sun came out and guests headed to the ‘Pit Lane’ for a selection of food and drink from the South West’s best festival feasts and beverages to refresh throughout the day. There was something for everyone from street style food, burgers, pizza and gelato. In the VIP area, the drinks flowed, and guests partied with the DJ before making their way to the Party in the Paddock at 6pm.
The incredible stage line-up of live world-renowned acts included West Country icon Steve Knightley of Show of Hands who got the crowd started. Four times BRIT award nominees Scouting for Girls launched a conga and twice Grammy award winners Soul II Soul performed their number one top hit; Back to Life. When dance legend Judge Jules arrived on the stage, the party had reached its peak with the crowd dancing until late and Michael partying with his guests to the end.
Our one-day festival commemorated Michael Caines’ love of motorsport, but we were also delighted to welcome so many people to the manor and raise 21K for Down Syndrome International.
A big ‘thank you’ to Emma Solley who captured the event on camera so perfectly. You are welcome to view and order prints on her website. Can you spot yourself dancing the crowd?
We were delighted to welcome back our revered annual Celebration of Speed to such success and plans are already in the pipeline for the next one in July 2024.
