Our Sustainability Plan reflects our alignment with the Relais & Châteaux “In Harmony With All Life On Earth” initiative, a global commitment pledged to UNESCO in 2024, and further supported by Michael’s role as the head of the UK and Ireland delegation for Relais & Châteaux.
The “In Harmony With All Life On Earth” framework is built upon 12 core commitments that pursue three major missions:
– Preserve the world’s hospitality and culinary traditions,
– Contribute to the protection and development of biodiversity,
– Take daily action for a more humane world.
At Lympstone Manor Hotel, we have tailored these principles to suit our unique setting on the Exe Estuary, ensuring that our actions make a tangible impact.

Our vineyard, estate grounds, and surrounding landscape are integral to our identity. As part of our Sustainability Plan, we have introduced several key initiatives to minimise our environmental footprint as a sustainable hotel:
- Water and Flood Management: We have implemented flood management systems at the lower end of the estate to protect the Exe estuary and the historic boundary of the estate.
- Wildlife Preservation: By dedicating parts of our estate to wildflower meadows and natural habitats, we actively support pollinators and native species.
- Working with the National Trust: The neighbouring land management for the protection and management of the dividing Brooke that feeds into the Exe Estuary.
