Celebrate Summer with our fun evening of Greek inspired food at the Pool House Restaurant.
Enjoy a delicious Greek inspired menu that Michael has put together inspired by delicious traditional Greek cuisine and the evening will be hosted by Damon Little from Liberty Wines.
Despite producing wine which has been an integral part of Greek culture for around 6,000 years until the last 20 years or so Greek wine hasn’t really hit the high notes in terms of quality, the vast majority until then being produced by indifferent co-operatives and largely made for the home market and consumed by hordes of tourists on the mainland or islands.
However there has been a gradual but significant change in recent times with a move away from high volume production destined for the co-operatives to a much more focused approach from winemakers using indigenous grape varietals planted in some very interesting terroirs.
Damon will talk about several wines from the Peloponnese peninsula, a region on the southern tip of mainland Greece known for producing grapes with aromatic intensity and wines with great longevity, a rare and sought after wine from the volcanic soils on the island of Santorini and a fabulous dessert wine made from sun dried grapes aged in small oak barrels from arguably the most exciting wine region in the country – Crete which is the largest and most southerly of the Greek islands.
This is the perfect evening to gather with friends and celebrate summer with great company, delicious food and drinks.
The evening will commence at 7.00pm with canapés and an arrival drink, taking seats at 7.30pm in the Pool House Restaurant.
We look forward to welcoming you to Lympstone Manor.
