Four course dinner with accompanying wines plus drinks on arrival, canapes, coffee and petit fours
Ever since the heady days of the 1980’s when Oddbins were the first to champion the wines of Australia in the UK with lots of fruit forward Shiraz and easy drinking Chardonnay much has changed, however what has not changed is the Brits love of a “nice bottle” from the sunburnt country and Australian wine is as popular now as it ever was and today the UK is still one of the largest export markets for Australian wines.
Today there are over 60 different designated growing regions in Australia with around 160,000 hectares of vines planted and some of the oldest commercial wineries were established in the 1820’s and 30’s. There are vines grown in every state, however the blazing heat in the desert center and the tropical, humid weather in the north of the country dictate that most wines are produced in the southern, eastern and south western states where the climate is cooler.
The event will be hosted by Operations Director Steve Edwards who is himself a third generation Australian and passionate not only about wines from his native country but has worked with the wine team here at Lympstone Manor to develop the wine cellar since the hotel opened in 2017. Steve has chosen a short but very well considered selection of wines to match the fantastic menu that Michael has put together inspired by some truly classic Australian cuisine!
The evening will commence at 7.00pm with canapés and an arrival drink, taking seats at 7.30pm in the in the Pool House dining area for a fun evening of fine wines and delicious food. We look forward to welcoming you to Lympstone Manor.
