Michael awarded Food Magazine ‘Best Chef’ Award

Lympstone Manor was invited to the awards ceremony where they were thrilled to pick up the accolade of Best Chef in what is one of the largest and most highly acclaimed food awards in the South West.

The awards were launched by Salt Media in 2012 through its publication food Magazine, with the aim of celebrating the very best restaurants, cafes, pubs, chefs, hotels, producers, retailers and cookery schools in the South West.

The voters were readers of food Magazine and www.food-mag.co.uk, and this year saw over 20,000 votes cast across the 12 categories.

The ceremony took place at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall in Watergate Bay on Monday February 5, and was attended by high profile figures from across the industry. It was hosted by Salt Media founding directors Jo Rees and Nick Cooper. Supporters and sponsors included some of the best food brands in the country including Total Produce, Sharp’s Brewery, Enotria & Coe, Wrecking Coast Gin, Frobishers, Philip Warren and Flying Fish Seafoods.

Food on the evening came from local producers and was cooked and served with an Italian twist by Adam Banks and team at Fifteen Cornwall. After canapés and cocktails, guests sat down for a four course meal including a main of venison leg, violetta artichokes, kales, jerusalem artichoke and hazelnuts, and winner Cornish Gouda Co.’s own semi mature and extra mature gouda for the cheese course. Each course was matched with a selection of fine wines and beers.

Food magazine editor Jo Rees said, ‘All the finalists exemplify the leading, creative and ground breaking food and drink businesses we have in the South West. It was a fabulous evening and we’re thrilled that Michael will now join our list of previous winners which includes Nathan Outlaw, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Peter Sanchez-Iglesias.’
